A Message from Our Family to Yours
My mother and I are deeply concerned about the impact the COVID-19 virus is having on our community. First and foremost is the concern we have for the health and safety of all of us and our families. Nothing is more important than our health. Second, aside from the impact to our real estate business and all businesses, we are concerned about the devasting impact the virus has had on so many non-profits, many of which we have supported for years.
Recently Martha Richards, the Executive Directive of the Miller Foundation, met with the Oregon Community Foundation, the Collins Foundation, the Murdock Charitable Trust and the Meyer Memorial Trust, to discuss their commitment to emergency support for our beloved local non-profits. Many non-profits have already approached us as to ask what we might be able to do in this time of need. As of right now, we are waiting to understand what other funders in the community are doing and then we will decide what level of support we can afford to help all the non-profits we can.
Our heart goes out to every organization, from musicians, ticket takers, back office staff, stagehands, receptionists, dancers, artists, social workers, to all the staff that help our community be the wonderful place it is to live. We have never faced a situation where many non-profits have had their revenue stop. My hope is that we all follow the Center for Disease Control (CDC) advice to isolate and protect ourselves so effects of COVID-19 are temporary.
My mother has often said “this too shall pass”, and hopefully we can start rebuilding our non-profits that have served our community and state so wonderfully for years!
Please stay healthy and we look forward to visiting with you soon.
Very Truly Yours,
Jordan D. Schnitzer
