Schnitzer Cares: Student Grantmaking

Schnitzer Cares: Student Grantmaking

Our Mission

The Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation fully funds and operates Schnitzer Cares: Student Grantmaking, one of the largest youth-led grantmaking programs in the country. Jordan Schnitzer and his family foundation put local students in charge of distributing millions of their money. It's grassroots philanthropy in action. The Schnitzer Cares team helps facilitate student groups that choose a community issue, evaluate applications from local nonprofits, and interview nonprofit representatives before deciding which to fund. Schnitzer Cares is designed to inspire students to continue a life of community service into adulthood, empowering them to give back to their communities from a young age.
